The last son born to L. Dale and Pearl Rigg was Eugene Palmer Rigg. He was born on Novermber 06, 1917 at Leon. He graduated from the Leon High School in 1935. For a time he too was involved in the Dairy business. He married Lola Radelle Dervage on April 20, 1936. They resided in Wichita and had one daughter, Phyllis Gene Rigg. Gene later married Eula Ryan and owned and operated a Dry Goods & Apparel store in Hamilton and later in Madison, Kansas. After giving up this business venture he continued in a related capacity as a grocery salesman. He later married Junedale Stitt on June 23, 1967. He adopted June's daugher, Rosemary Dale Stitt. In the time that I knew my Uncle Gene, he was an insurance agent. At the time of his death, he resided in Topeka and was a retired assistant manager of the Topeka agency of the American Republic Insurance Company. Gene died on September 27, 1985 at the age of 68. It was Gene's wish to have his body donated to medical science upon his death. I'm not sure what hobbies Gene had but I do know that he was a natural when it came to being in sales. He loved people and didn't seem to know a stranger. I can remember waiting for him one time to close a sale...for two hours! He was a very sweet and kind man.
