The Rigg Reunion 2005 will be held on April 29 - May 1. For those of you that have attended the reunion before much of this information will not be anything new. But for those of you out there in cyberland that would be interested in attending the 22nd Annual Rigg Reunion I will list the information that you need to know. The Reunion usually begins on Friday evening when relatives from all across America begin to arrive in Augusta, Kansas. For a number of years now, Lehr's Motel and Double D's restaurant have been the location of the Reunion. Many relatives keep the same reservations from year to year at Lehr's so you need to call early to ascertain if there are still rooms available. Lehr's Motel is located at 212 W. 7th Avenue in Augusta and the phone number is (316) 775-6327. In the event Lehr's fills up, there is also the Augusta Inn located at 712 W. 7th in Augusta and the phone number is (316) 775- 5979. Augusta is located 12 miles east of Wichita, Kansas so in the unlikely event that both motels would be full it is only a 15 minute drive between Wichita and Augusta. The noon dinner on Saturday is at Double D's which is located in the same complex as Lehr's Motel. There is a buffet dinner which I believe last year cost $12.00 which also includes the tip and the room where the dinner is held. Each year people who wish to do so bring a craft or gift from their part of the country and then after the dinner and introductions there is a drawing for gifts. There is also a swimming pool and hospitality room at the motel where we all congregate to visit and have fun. Sunday morning there is a breakfast at Double D's if you wish to attend prior to leaving to return home. We always have a great time. Saturday afternoon includes a drive to the old cemeteries in the area for those that are interested in viewing the graves of Rigg ancestors. With Wichita being so close there is much to do in the city including, shopping, restaurants and movie theaters. It is usually a very full and enjoyable weekend.
