The 18th Annual Rigg Reunion was held the last weekend in April 2001 in Augusta, Kansas. It was with great excitement that we not only hosted the descendants of Thomas Townley and Miranda Gambrel Rigg but also descendants of George Franklin Rigg and Maria Eliza Rigg Sloan a brother and sister of Thomas Townley Rigg. At the 2000 reunion we entertained and learned from several new attendees from Seattle, descendants of Dorothy Rigg Powell, the only daughter of Thomas Townley Rigg. The Rigg Reunion Newsletter which is published quarterly consisting of old photos, documentation, and stories and clippings relating to our Rigg ancestors as well as current information regarding the Rigg descendants is still being published after it's third year with the help of donations from Rigg relatives. This website is a project that is a partner to the Newsletter in hopes of reaching more Rigg descendants. Please be sure and check out the Rigg Reunion link on this website to get all of the information regarding the next reunion. Notice that I have begun to add links to other Rigg related websites on this page. Some will be great fun to look at and others will give you genealogical information, so there is something for everyone. Anyone that would like to have a link to their webpage please feel free to email me your web address and as soon as I can get around to it I will add it to our Family Links. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my daughter, Heather Blake Krumnow, for her technical support on this project. The Winter issue of Rigg Reunion Newsletter was published and mailed out this January 2002. I will continue to add pictures and information to the Photo Album page and also have plans to add family documents to assist all of you avid genealogists with putting the correct names and dates in your research materials. It will just take time for me to do all of this. We added a new adventure to our family projects this past fall by producing a video entitled, "John Luttrell Rigg Portrait of a Kansas Oil Worker". This was done in cooperation with the Butler County Historical Museum and financed with donations from Rigg relatives. It will be available for viewing at the Kansas Gas and Oil Museum in El Dorado, Kansas. This website is a work in progress so please continue to check back often. Thanks for all of the encouragement and support from my online cousins...I really appreciate it! The Winter newsletter featured two of the grandchildren of Thomas and Miranda Rigg in the In The Spotlight column. They had seventeen grandchildren and before the year is out I hope to profile all of them and upload those biographies to the Rigg Family Website. Seven states were represented in 2001 including Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington, New York, Tennessee, California and Texas. We had a great time and look forward with great anticipation to Rigg Reunion 2002! All Rigg descendants are welcome to attend the Rigg Reunion which is held the last weekend in April of each year. Come on and join us!!!! I have added the two essays for which I won awards in the Jessie Perry Stratford Excellence in Historical Writing contest which is held each year by the Butler County Historical Society. Many of you had asked to read these, thus I decided to include them on this website. I have also added a link to the Butler County GenWeb family history pages, which also links to other pages of interest to those researching in Butler County, Kansas. I am so pleased to have added the link to David L. Rigg's Rigg Family History page. If you have never visited his site I am sure you will find it a delight! He certainly has done alot of research. Once again thanks for all of your support and I just want you to know that this is such a wonderful adventure for me and I hope to continue to find something new about our family history throughout the years! Hope 2002 will bring new blessings to each of you!
