Townly Rigg's New Tombstone
Phebe Rigg's Tombstone
The original tombstone of Townly Rigg which is located at the Quito Cemetery near Leon, Kansas had fallen into several pieces due to erosion and possible vandalism. For some time now, many of us had discussed restoring or replacing his tombstone. Dick Albright took on the task of restoring it by using steel rods and also a protective coating over the stone but when it came time to reset the tombstone it fell to pieces. Dick along with Bill Rigg decided to take on the task of replacing the tombstone. Dick contacted a local contractor to help with this endeavor. They did a rubbing of the stone to get the exact type of lettering and the exact wording and had a new tombstone made. The cost of this project was $450 and for anyone that would like to make a donation to help pay for this you may send your donation to Dick Albright 417 North Hillside El Dorado, Kansas 67042. Any surplus money collected will be donated to the newsletter fund. Thanks Dick and Bill for your efforts in replacing Townly's tombstone.
